Seahawks greats running back Shaun Alexander and head coach Mike Holmgren are among the 94 players and coaches nominated for the 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame today.
There are 11 players and coaches with ties to the Seattle area on the list. Former Seahawks Alexander, RB Edgerrin James, RB Ricky Watters, and C Kevin Mawae were nominated.
Former Seahawks head coaches Chuck Knox and Tom Flores join Holmgren on the list of 94.
Cougar great Drew Bledsoe, former Huskies center Olin Kreutz, and Seattle native & former Rainier Beach football coach Eric Metcalf are also on the ballot.
The nominees will be whittled down to 25 in November, then to 15 in January. Those 15 finalists, plus a couple of contributors and Senior Finalist Seahawks great Kenny Easley, will be discussed the day before the Super Bowl to see who makes it into the Hall of Fame.
The 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees will be enshrined August 5, 2017 in Canton, Ohio.
