Associated Press

SEATTLE - The Seattle Mariners announced today they have released 33-year-old designated hitter Jose Vido, who was designated for assignment last week.

He now can sign as a free agent with another major league team.

In 85 games for the Mariners this season, Vidro hit .234 with seven home runs and 45 RBIs. In two seasons with the Mariners, he hit .285 with 13 homers and 104 RBIs in 232 games.
