SEATTLE - Garrett Olson threw eight scoreless innings before running into trouble in the ninth and the Baltimore Orioles scored six early runs off Jarrod Washburn in a 10-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Olson (8-5) was working on an eight-hitter before the Mariners chased him during a five-run ninth inning. The left-hander was charged with three runs and 11 hits in a career-best 8 1-3 innings.

Seattle loaded the bases on three singles before Orioles manager Dave Trembley brought in Lance Cormier. Kenji Johjima and Jeremy Reed each had an RBI single, Ichiro Suzuki drove in another run with a groundout and Willie Bloomquist and Bryan LaHair had run-scoring hits before Adrian Beltre flied out to end the game.

Olson, making his 26th career start and first against Seattle, had never gone longer than seven innings before the win against the Mariners.

Washburn (5-10) was long gone by the time Olson departed, charged with six runs and nine hits over 4 2-3 ugly innings in his first start since Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline.

Washburn was reportedly pursued by the New York Yankees before the deadline but the two sides were unable to work out a deal.

Baltimore pushed across a season-best eight runs in the fifth against Washburn and Roy Corcoran, winning for the seventh time in eight games against Seattle. Jay Payton hit a three-run triple and former Mariners prospect Adam Jones delivered a two-run single.

Nick Markakis had an RBI double in the first and Kevin Millar singled in a run in the eighth for Baltimore.
