TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Lindsay Brown had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Arlington held on for a 43-40 win over Gonzaga Prep in a first-round game of the 4A state girls basketball tournament Thursday.
The Eagles (21-4) took a 10-point lead on Taylor Grahm's 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the third quarter, but missed the front end of two one-and-ones at the free-throw line in the final minute and barely escaped a late Gonzaga Prep rally. The Bullpups (22-4) missed two shots in the final 22 seconds, including a 3-pointer that fell short at the buzzer.
Laura Stockton had a team-high 12 points for Gonzaga Prep, which made just 2 of 16 shots from 3-point range.
Arlington overcame 17 turnovers in the win.
