TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Makayla Roper scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Seattle's Cleveland to a 39-32 quarterfinal win over Shorecrest Thursday at the state 3A girls basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome.

Both teams shot poorly from the field but Shorecrest turned the ball over 23 times to just 12 for Cleveland. That helped the Eagles (21-6) to 21 more field-goal attempts.

Donniesha Webber added seven points for the Eagles, including three key free throws in the final two minutes.

The Highlanders (20-5) were making their third straight appearance at state after making the tournament for the first time in 2010. Onyie Chibuogwu was the only bright spot on offense for Shorecrest, scoring 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Brianne Lasconia added nine points.

Shorecrest shot just 31 percent from the field, Cleveland connected on 28 percent.
