TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Franklin junior Eugene Artison made sure that Timberline's Donaven Dorsey wasn't the only junior big man to play a starring role on Thursday.
The 6-foot-8 Artison had 23 points and eight rebounds, while the Quakers overcame Dorsey's game-high 30 points in a 78-55 win in the first round of the 3A state boys basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome.
Artison scored 11 points in the third quarter, during which the Quakers (18-8) hit four 3-point shots and outscored Timberline 31-15 en route to a 31-point lead. Franklin trailed for only 2 1/2 minutes the entire game, using a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter to put the Blazers (14-9) away for good.
Patrick Ball added 16 points and nine rebounds for Franklin. The 6-foot-6 Dorsey made 12 of 24 shots from the field, including two 3-pointers.
The Quakers made 7 of 15 3-point shots in the win.
