TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- University of Kansas-bound Anrio Adams scored 24 points to go with six rebounds and five assists to lead Rainier Beach to a 67-51 quarterfinal win over Mountlake Terrace Thursday at the Class 3A boys state tournament.
The 6-foot-3 Adams, the only senior suited up for the Vikings (25-3), was 11-of-17 from the field and the Vikings shot 56.3 percent as a team (27-of-48). Elijah Foster scored 13 points and DuJuan Piper 10 for the Vikings.
The Hawks (23-2) were led by the 16 points of Marquis Armstead. Colby Russell added 11 and Ryan Shannon 10.
Rainier Beach led most of the way and 30-18 at half. Mountlake Terrace got to within five points three minutes into the second half but the Vikings took advantage of several turnovers to increase the lead to double-digits the rest of the way.
