Liberty Christian tops Neah Bay 34-28 for 1B title

TACOMA, Wash.  -- John Lesser scored on a 2-yard run as time expired to give Liberty Christian a 34-28 win over Neah Bay for its first 1B state championship on Saturday.

Lesser took a pitch from Mike Olson and busted through a defender for the Richland school in its first playoff appearance. Lesser rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in the eight-man game.

Olson completed 9 of 18 passes for 145 yards and two TDs. He also rushed for a touchdown for Liberty Christian (14-0).

Josiah Greene broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run and Cody Cummins ran in the 2-point conversion for defending champion Neah Bay (12-1) to tie it at 28 with 2:49 left.

Greene rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. He also completed 6 of 15 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
