TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Holly Tonry's timely shooting led Seattle Prep's fourth-quarter rally and a couple of officiating decision in the final moments helped the Panthers reach the Class 3A girls title game with 36-33 win over Wilson on Friday.
Tonry put the Panthers (22-5) ahead on a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left, then added a pair of free throws for a three-point lead. Wilson star Bethany Montgomery appeared to have a chance to tie the score after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with 7.7 seconds left, but the Rams' bench was awarded a timeout before the foul call. Trailing 34-31, Wilson came out of the timeout and gave Montgomery another chance. Her shot from the wing was good with 2 seconds remaining, but what appeared to be a tying 3-pointer was quickly changed to a 2 because Montgomery had a foot on the line.
Tonry added a pair of free throws in the final second to account for the final score, giving her a team-high nine points. Mary Ann Santucci added six points and seven rebounds for Seattle Prep, which reached the state title game for the first time since 2003.
Montgomery finished with 15 points for the Rams (19-3).
