BaseballNorthwest.com rates Colby Sokol as the top Westside baseball senior in the state of Washington. The Emerald Ridge left-hander has power and speed, and this week he's in the Children's Hospital Spotlight.
Colby had always planned on being a pitcher, but after suffering two arm injuries, Sokol and his coaches decided it would be better if he changed positions and became an everyday centerfielder.
He spent all of last summer falling in love with his newfound opportunity.
It was Colby's passion for baseball and the strength of a tight knit family that helped turn a tough situation into a smooth transition.
The University of Oregon will play baseball again next year after a 27-year absence from the diamond. Colby has signed on as part of the Ducks recruiting class.
