TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Kayleigh Valley scored 18 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to lead University to a 45-34 quarterfinal win over Seattle Prep Thursday night at the state 3A boys basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome.

The Titans (17-7) from near Spokane never trailed, racing to an 11-1 lead after one quarter. Valley was 5 of 9 from the field and hit 8 of her 10 free throws. Hallie Gennett had 13 points and 13 rebounds for University. Lexi Clark didn't score but grabbed nine rebounds and had six steals.

The Panthers (21-7) trailed 23-13 at the half thanks to 22 percent shooting from the field. Michaela Carew and MaryAnn Santucci were the only Panthers in double figures with 12 points apiece.

University had lost four of their last nine games and had to win back-to-back games to make it to the state tournament.
