MIAMI (AP) - Peyton Manning spent the whole season building toward a Super Bowl crown, a victory that might vault him among the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

And then he threw it all away.

Manning was responsible for the only turnover in the Saints' 31-17 upset victory over Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Manning could only watch as Tracy Porter returned an interception for a clinching, 74-yard touchdown in the final minutes of Super Bowl 44.

The four-time NFL MVP called the loss "very disappointing" as he falls to 1-and-1 in the big game. Manning finished 31 of 45 for 333 yards and one TD along with that interception. After the game, Manning said Porter "just made a great play on it."

Manning, who grew up in New Orleans, said it's "time for the Saints to celebrate," adding "It's their championship."

Manning said the Saints "played well in all phases" and they deserved the victory.
