Report: Huskies working on long term extension for Petersen

The Huskies are reportedly working on possibly a 10-year extension for head football coach Chris Petersen, according to the Seattle Times.  And the new deal could make him the highest paid coach in the PAC-12.

Petersen just signed a two-year extension last November. That deal keeps him on Montlake until 2020 at $4 million per season.

Stanford's David Shaw is the top paid coach in the PAC-12 at just over $4 mil per season.  Shaw is the 19th highest paid of the salaries that are published.  Former Stanford coach and current Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh makes the most at $9 million.

Times reporter Adam Jude writes that Petersen wants raises for his assistants.  The Dawgs' coach isn't really worried about the dollar figure for him as much as continuity.

By the way, Petersen just lost an offensive consultant.  Former Cal coach Jeff Tedford is leaving the Dawgs for the head coaching job with Fresno State.
