USA TODAY Sports recruited 11 prospects to chronicle their journey to the NFL draft. Today's entry is from Washington quarterback Keith Price, who passed for 8,919 yards and 75 touchdowns over four college seasons, reporting after a workout at EXOS in Carson, Calif.
I'm living back at my grandma's house, where I lived in high school. She's so excited. We had burritos yesterday. I missed the home-cooked meals. College is a whole different beast.
My little sister, my little brother, my little brother's buddies are over there. My homeboys come over every single day. It's cool being back home.
I'm here at EXOS about two hours a day, working on agility, speed, strength, balance just a lot of things that I can't train myself to do.
After here, I go throw, put in another two hours. I put in so much time and I invest so much into it, because it means that much to me. It's a sport that I would do for free. It's not like I'm just playing for a paycheck. It's something I love to do.
That's all I can do, is maximize what I do and just continue with the grind, continue to grow my game, getting my feet right, making sure I'm in the best possible shape as I'm heading into a rookie minicamp if I get invited to a rookie minicamp. It'd be crazy if I didn't. But all I can do is pray right now, because it might happen.
In fact, I'm preparing myself for it to happen for me not to be invited. I don't know why I wouldn't, but I prepared myself to be invited to the combine and that didn't happen, so I'm not going to get my hopes up this time. I thought maybe I'd be on a waiting list for the Senior Bowl, and I wasn't even an alternate. It's still a waiting game.
I talked to a couple teams after the pro day nothing too major. But that's it. I haven't heard any feedback from pro day. No private workouts. No visits. I just don't know anything right now, to be honest with you. If a team is interested, they probably won't even let you know or let anybody know just so they can steal you.
I can't control other people's opinions. All I can control is how I'm preparing myself for the next phase. Hopefully, I get picked up. If I don't, hopefully somebody signs me. And if no one does, I'd go play in some other league. My goal is to be in the NFL, so I'm going to continue to take those steps for me to get there and stay there.
