Washington State's new head football coach had players practicing for more than three hours on the first day of spring drills.
Mike Leach got his team on the field for the first time Thursday. Before practice, Leach said he was a bit nervous and didn't expect a pretty practice, but said he was excited to get out on the field.
The Cougars have 46 returning lettermen heading into spring. The team will hold 15 practices.
Meanwhile, WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos said renovations to Martin Stadium are staying on time and on budget.
