PULLMAN, Wash. -- Saturday marks the first home football game for new Washington State University Head Football Coach, Mike Leach.  It is also the first time Cougar football fans get to enjoy the Martin Stadium upgrades.

Many fans are calling this season a new era in Cougar football.  The combination of Mike Leach and a new stadium has created an energy on campus some have not seen in decades.

Some alumni said it has been since the 1990's when people were excited for WSU football.  Students and parents said they are cautiously optimistic about Saturday's game and the weeks ahead.  While everyone KREM 2 News talked to expect a win against the Eastern Washington University Eagles, they are careful not to get too confident.  They said they hope the excitement around Coach Leach and Martin Stadium will turn into winning seasons over the next few years.

Kickoff is Saturday at noon.
