We already knew Trey Griffey wasn’t following in his dad’s footsteps. The son of Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. plays high school football in Orlando. The wide receiver has been recruited by Washington State University.
But still, dear old dad must be his favorite athlete right?
“I didn’t put him down because that’s just my father,” Trey Griffey said in response to a questionnaire by the Orlando Sentinel. “I put down Calvin Johnson because he plays the position that I play.”
Johnson is a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions.
Trey will play his senior season this fall at Dr. Phillips High School.
Although WSU is in the hunt to sign Trey, he also has received recruiting materials from Oregon, UCLA, Florida State, Texas A&M and Indiana, just to name a few. He even has an official offer from Florida International University.
