ESPN is reporting Ryan Leaf will not be extradited to Texas, nor have his probation revoked. The Cougar great's lawyer says the Texas warrants have been withdrawn. A district attorney in Randall county, Texas had previously wanted to revoke Leaf's 10-year probation from a 2010 drug case.
Leaf's lawyer says he will now enter a drug treatment program as per his plea deal from his Montana case. His 5-year plea deal with the Montana Department of Corrections include at least nine months in a treatment program, six months in a pre-release center, and two years suspended sentence.
UPDATE: According to the Great Falls Tribune, Leaf could still face a Texas court in the future. The Randall County district attorney will wait until Leaf completes his first 15 months of treatment before deciding what to do.
