PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed fourth-round draft pick Alameda Ta'amu and fifth-round pick Chris Rainey.

Pittsburgh traded up in the fourth round to select Ta'amu with the 109th pick. The 6-foot-2, 348-pound nose tackle out of Washington is expected to back up veteran Casey Hampton this season.

Ta'amu recorded 109 tackles with 7 1/2 sacks and 16 1/2 tackles for loss during his last two seasons with the Huskies. He was an All-Pac 12 Conference honorable mention as a junior and a senior.

Rainey ran for 861 yards and two scores and caught 31 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in his senior year at Florida in 2011.

He is expected to see time as a kick returner and as a third-down specialist.
