Ducks a No. 5 national seed for Eugene Regional
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- The Oregon Ducks, a No. 5 national seed for the NCAA tournament, host Cal State Fullerton, Austin Peay and Indiana State at PK Park in the Eugene Regional starting Friday.
It is the first national seeding in program history.
The Ducks finished 42-17 this season and 19-11 in the Pac-12 Conference. They were third in the league after a season-ending three-game sweep by the Oregon State Beavers this past weekend.
Oregon opens the double-elimination tournament with Austin Peay (38-22) coming off its second straight Ohio Valley Conference tournament title.
That game will be followed by Fullerton (35-19) against Indiana State (41-17).
Beavers baseball draws Baton Rouge Regional
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- The Oregon State Beavers are headed to the Baton Rouge Regional where they'll face Belmont on Friday.
It will be Oregon State's fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament, a school record. The Beavers won back-to-back College World Series titles in 2006 and 2007.
The Beavers have been to the postseason seven times under coach Pat Casey, and they've made 13 trips overall.
Oregon State (38-24) will face Belmont (39-22) from the Atlantic Sun Conference in Friday's opening game at the double-elimination regional. Host LSU (43-16) will play Louisiana-Monroe (31-28) in the late game at Alex Box Stadium.
LSU is the No. 7 national seed.
