SEATTLE (AP) — Sami Whitcomb hit an open 3-pointer with 4.1 seconds left to lift Washington to a 67-66 victory over Brigham Young on Wednesday night.

Whitcomb scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the final 3:40 to rally Washington (1-1) from a 59-50 deficit.

Keilani Moeaki made 1 of 2 free throws to put BYU (1-1) up 66-64 with 22.5 seconds left. After a timeout, Sarah Morton dribbled down the clock until firing a pass to Whitcomb a few feet behind the 3-point line to set up the winning shot.

Haley Hall had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead four players in double figures for BYU. Coriann Wood and Moeaki had 11 points apiece, and Mindy Nielson 10.

Morton had 12 points and five assists for the Huskies. Regina Rogers added 11 points.

The Huskies beat BYU for the first time since 1983 and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cougars. The teams last met in 1999.

Washington rallied to tie the game at 46-46 midway through the second half after trailing by 10 in the first half.

The Cougars responded with a 13-4 run over the next six minutes to lead 59-50. Nielson, Hall and Wood each hit 3-pointers during the stretch.

BYU led 34-30 at halftime. The Cougars were 6 of 11 on 3-pointers in the first half.

Rogers had 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting in the first half.

The Cougars were only 14 of 26 (53.8 percent) from the free-throw line, including two misses in the final 43 seconds.
