The Seattle Thunderbirds find themselves in a hole, after losing Game 2 (6-3) to the Kelowna Rockets in the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs. As in Game 1, Kelowna took the lead in the first, scoring two goals in the first eleven minutes. The T-Birds tied it up in the first, on goals scored two minutes apart by Roberts Lipsbergs and Scott Eansor. The second period turned into an ugly, emotional contest marred by sixteen penalty minutes (on both teams) and two more Kelowna goals. Alexander Delnov scored early in the third period, but that’s all the offense the T-Birds could muster, and a Rockets’ empty net goal in the final two minutes of regulation sealed Kelowna’s 6-3 victory.

The two teams travel to Kent for Games 3 and 4, a “must-win” situation for the T-Birds to keep their playoff hopes alive. Game 3 is Tuesday, April 8 at 7:05pm and Game 4 is Wednesday, April 9 at 7:05pm. Tickets are available for both games. Click here for more information. (Note: Tuesday’s game is a “Two for Tuesday” promotion, featuring $2 beer, soda, popcorn and hot dogs, as well as two tickets for the price of one).
