VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a contract extension with general manager Mike Gillis.
Gillis has served as the team's president and general manager for the past four seasons.
Gillis has led the Canucks to back-to-back Presidents' Trophies as the NHL's top team during the regular season.
Vancouver lost Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup finals to the Boston Bruins before falling in the first round of this year's playoffs to the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Kings.
Among the tasks Gillis will have to deal with over the summer are the futures of goaltender Roberto Luongo and head coach Alain Vigneault.
