The Portland Trail Blazers unveiled two versions of a retro game jersey Monday in honor of the 40th anniversary of the team.

The white Rip City jersey was already on sale to the public, and the red "Blazers" jersey was scheduled to be made available for public sale in October, according to the team.

With the announcement, the Blazers followed in the steps of may other franchises that have celebrated their team roots by offering "throwback" uniforms.

The jerseys pay tribute to the original 1970 Trail Blazers team, which included Rick Adelman, who went on later to return as coach; and Geoff Petrie, who was the first player drafted and signed by the team, and played his entire career for the Blazers, then worked in Blazers management.
