UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson beat Nate Diaz pretty handily at KeyArena Saturday.  Henderson used leg kicks, punches to Diaz's thighs, and takedowns to beat his opponent. But he also used something unusual, and maybe illegal, in the win.

ESPN's Brett Okamoto reports that the Federal Way native was chewing on a toothpick throughout the whole fight.  UFC president Dana White called it crazy and illegal. (MMATorch reports the state of Washington doesn't have a rule against.)

But the Washington State Department of Licensing issued a statement saying they wouldn't pursue an investigation, let alone dish out any punishment.

White also says he doesn't plan to punish the champ.

It's kind of funny that he got away with it.  Prior to entering the ring, an official checks the fighter's body for anything illegal or foreign.  But apparently, that official didn't notice the toothpick in Henderson's mouth.

The Decatur high school product regularly practices with a toothpick in his mouth.  Wednesday, during his workout for the media, prior to UFC on FOX, Henderson had one in his mouth the whole time.  You can even see it in his mouth after the workout during his interview with the media.

No matter what, a toothpick didn't beat Diaz.  Henderson's game plan, skills, and all-around game did Diaz in.  Henderson is the champ and Saturday night at the KeyArena, he showed why in dominating fashion.
