The U.S. Soccer Men's National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann has announced his 23-player roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The event will take place June 12 to July 13 in Brazil.

Defender DeAndre Yedlin and forward Clint Dempsey of Sounders FC made the roster, while teammate Brad Evans did not. Forward Landon Donovan, who has the most international goals of any U.S. soccer player was also left off the team.

A total of seven players were cut from the preliminary 30-man roster.

Yedlin, 20, was raised by his grandparents in Seattle and attended O'Dea High School. He played two years of collegiate soccer at Akron before joining his hometown soccer club.

Last year, Yedlin was named an MLS All Star and was a finalist for Rookie of the Year. He is the second youngest player on the national team behind Julian Green, 18.

Dempsey, the highest paid player in Major League Soccer, joined the Sounders last August. He came to Seattle from Tottenham Hotspur. He has been named U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year three times.

The 23-man U.S. World Cup roster announced Thursday by coach Jurgen Klinsmann:

Defenders: DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla, Mexico), Matt Besler (Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin, Germany), Geoff Cameron (Stoke, England), Timmy Chandler (Nuremberg, Germany), Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Germany), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes, France), Michael Bradley (Toronto), Brad Davis (Houston), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg, Norway), Julian Green (Bayern Munich, Germany), Jermaine Jones (Besiktas, Turkey), Graham Zusi (Kansas City)

Fowards: Jozy Altidore (Sunderland, England), Clint Dempsey (Seattle), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar, Netherlands), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose)
