The Darrell Bevell – Russell Wilson show will not be broken up in 2013.
Bevell, the Seahawks offensive coordinator, was given a new contract, reports ESPN’s John Clayton.
Bevell was a candidate for the head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals, but Clayton reports Bevell withdrew his name after receiving the new deal in Seattle. He had also been a candidate for head coaching positions in Chicago and Jacksonville, but as passed over. Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley was hired in Jacksonville Thursday.
The Seahawks posted the 3rd ranked rushing offense in 2012. More importantly, the offense saw the quick maturation of quarterback Russell Wilson from a third round draft pick to a starter who led the team to the second round of the playoffs and within a hair of the NFC Championship Game.
In December, the Seahawks became the first team since 1950 to score 150 points in a three game span, although some of that scoring was on defense.
