SEATTLE -- A Sacramento Kings' supporter sent an open letter to everyone, including Seattle, saying, "Keep your hands off our Kings."

It's the latest development in serious talks about building an NBA or NHL arena in Seattle. The letter comes from Jeremiah Jackson of ThinkBigSacramento.com.

The letter is addressed to Chris Hansen, a former Seattleite, and current San Francisco hedge fund manager who has approached Seattle about his interest to invest in an arena. Hansen is not talking publicly about his proposal or other investors in his group.

In the letter, part of it states, "We hope this report will help you prepare to defend why you want to inflict the kind of economic harm on working people that took place in Seattle."

Property south of Safeco Field on Occidental Avenue South, south of Massachusetts Street, was recently purchased by Hansen.

"I'm very excited and optimistic and I'm not saying that blindly. The stars have lined up for us on this deal," said Seattle City Councilman Bruce Harrell.

Seattle Mayor McGinn pledges no new taxes will be used. But the city may sell bonds for the project.

The NBA and NHL franchises would use Key Arena while the new stadium is being built. The deal may include some investor money to keep the Key solvent after the switch.

Sacramento has until March 1 to seal a deal on their new arena or risk losing the Sacramento Kings.

I think a new team would be great, I miss having a home team, Lets start fresh, recruit new coaches and players, make our own team.

Suckramento is trying to dictate terms on a pro team that's trying to bail on them? I'm holding my ribs here.

Let's just assume that we get an NBA team. Tens years later they will be wanting a new stadium or else it's adios. Guess who would then have to pay for a new stadium?

Even the loosing seasons the Sonics were here, going to a game was always fun. It was a little too expensive for going very often but still fun to watch. Basketball needs to be watched in person TV doesn't work with it the game is too fast. That said, now that I know there is no loyalty from a team that a city supports I will never go to an other NBA game again. The Huskies play good ball, It costs a lot less for tickets and I still get to watch the best players in the game. I will never go to another NBA game again !

Don't worry, after about 10 solid years of sucking we'll be happy to give them right back.

@awol50, Wow! Just Wow! I guess you don't care about all the people that are employed by the Ms and Seahawks. As well as all those who work for businesses that depend on game traffic for their livelihood.

Anyone who does not see that taxpayers would fund a huge part of this fiasco is a fool. Whether it is Seattle, King County or the State, one way or another the NBA will extract a pound of flesh from working people. Hopefully Sacramento will do the right thing and not send us their blight. Now if only they would take the baseball and football teams and implode those two other eyesores downtown.

We tried once, the Sonics were HORRID, so let's move on, and just build an NHL arena instead, since Silvertips and Thunderbirds pack their arenas every game with fans that care.

@subaru, I guess you don't know whay the Sonics left town in the first place. The Key is considered not up to "NBA standards". Not a huge fan of the NBA but it would be good to get a team back in Seattle if "no new taxes will be used". Not going to place a big bet on that though...LOL.

Thanks to Ron SIms we are now Marin Luther KING county, apparently no vote on this was needed. No reason for it, I wonder how much that cost the city when they did that.

The name Kings is perfect for us... as it is the same name as King County and we can commemorate it to Martin Luther King Jr.

Oh, look... a wealthy investor who bought property in Seattle is interested in seeing it developed (with the help of tax payers) into an arena... surprise, surprise...

kinkyfriedman... you must be smoking good something really good with all that B.S. I only only against the NBA because Stern is a P.O.S. and not because of the joke you posted.

No, please no. Life here has been so good without basketball. This city is so much better now. I'll buy a bond to block a new NBA team from settling here. The professional game just stinks and our courts cannot handle the increased case load with ballers living here.
