Newly released design changes for the Seattle arena preferred option features a glowing orange-rust color facade that will make the arena stand out in the Seattle skyline.

"We're calling this The Icon," said one of the arena's architects, referring to the arena's prominent orange/rust colored feature.

The architects say the orange "Icon" will really come alive at night when it is aglow.

Other design changes to the preferred option include the use of more glass and a "perforated contextual wrapper with icon" that allows for a "programmatically flexible facade." The new design also features a terraced entry and a civic "front porch."

The new Seattle arena design change and use of color may answer some of the critics who were unimpressed when the first sketches were released.
