The Everett Silvertips and Seattle Thunderbirds added to their rosters by selecting players in the Canadian Hockey League’s Import Draft. The T-Birds had the 10th overall selection and used it to pick center/right wing Marcel Noebels from Germany. Noebels played for both the Krefeld Penguins Elite and Under-18 teams. He also was a member of Team Germany in the World Under-18 Tournament in Poland. He led the teams in his group in scoring, with 9 goals and 10 assists for 19 points in 5 games. The 18 year old is tall – 6’2” and weighs 205 pounds.  In a news release, Seattle Thunderbirds General Manager Russ Farwell had this to say: “Noebels is a big, good skating forward, that has the potential to help us right away.”

The T-Birds traded a 4th round pick in the 2012 Bantam Draft to the Red Deer Rebels, in exchange for the 34th pick today. They used that pick to select defenseman Dave Sutter from Switzerland. Sutter played with the Geneva Junior Elite team last season, and also represented Team Switzerland in the World Under-18 tournament. Sutter is also 18. He stands 6’5” tall and weighs 195 pounds.

Huhtala is 17 years old, stands 6’1” tall and weighs 175 pounds. In a news release, Everett Silvertips Vice President/General Manager Doug Soetaert said: “"Jesse has good hands, and we've all been impressed with his skating ability. We feel he'll be an excellent fit up front for our hockey club."

The news release also lists former Silvertips players selected in the Import Draft. They include a couple of last season’s defensive standouts: Rasmus Rissanen (Finland) and Radko Gudas (Czech Republic). Gudas was drafted 66th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning over the weekend.
