Responding in times of need is part of the Andruzzi family. Former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi has three brothers who responded to the September 11th attacks.
So it seemed fitting that he jumped into action, carrying a woman to safety after the bombs went off during the Boston Marathon.
Andruzzi had a team participating in the race, and so did another former Patriot - Tedy Bruschi.
Bruschi ran the race last year, and was watching the marathon from his hotel this year when he felt the second explosion.
He told ESPN that he didn't know how tell his kids what had just happened.
“You don’t want to tell them what had happened, you know what really happened, like in my mind that it’s an explosion and you’re thinking terrorism and you’re thinking something someone had planned … an evil act but you just continue to tell them something happened out there and just try to keep them calm and I was trying to keep them calm the best I could.”
