RENTON, Wash. (AP) — It's been 3 1/2 years since the Vikings outfoxed the Seahawks with disputed "poison pill" provisions in a contract offer to Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson that Seattle was unable to match.
The Seahawks took wide receiver Nate Burleson away from Minnesota with the same tricks a week later.
The net results: Minnesota won, Seattle mostly lost — and the NFL still has contractual loopholes ripe for exploitation.
One guy who is happy Hutchinson is in Minnesota: Star runner Adrian Peterson.
Peterson says "if you could see me now, I am doing a dance" over having Hutchinson clearing holes for him. He can't believe Seattle let him go, adding "he's a beast."
