Timeless appeal of a century-old inn

10:45 AM PDT on Thursday, June 19, 2008

Northwest Backroads

For over a century, the Shelburne Inn in Seaview, Wash. has shared its timeless appeal with its guests. The inn is the oldest continuously operating lodging establishment in the state of Washington.

Northwest Backroads

Comfort, friendliness, quality and great food!

There's something alluring about this place. Maybe it's the smell of salt water in the air, maybe it's the scenic coastline of the world's longest beach or maybe you're looking ahead to the warm hospitality of Washington's oldest lodging facility – the timeless Shelburne Inn bed-and-breakfast.

Built in 1896 as a Washington Coast retreat for Portland residents, the Shelburne is an extraordinary destination.

Owners David Campiche and wife Lauri have dedicated their lives to service and they have helped shape the standard for service in the small beach town of Seaview.

They take a lot of pride in the inn and that pride is evident in everything they do and everything they are – from David's gourmet breakfasts that linger on the palate and in the mind to the relaxing, tastefully-decorated, antique-appointed rooms.

The Shelburne Inn exudes warm, family-friendly atmosphere, but it also is loaded with tradition enhanced by superior service and quality.

Over 20 years ago, Ann and Tony Kischner joined David and Lauri in their quest to provide guests with something that is often taken for granted in the service industry: a consistent level of quality.

The Shoalwater Restaurant is a delightful dining experience, and Tony is a man who wears many hats: resident wine aficionado, owner, maitre 'd and all-round good guy.

Ann is responsible for the sinful, mouth-watering confections she prepares daily for the Shoalwater.

Ann, Tony, David and Lauri all share the same culinary and service philosophies and commitment to quality. All this adds up to a nationally acclaimed combination of impeccable service.
