SEATTLE - Chef de Cuisine Steve Cain from the El Gaucho restaurant in Bellevue joined KING5 Morning News on Kong Thursday morning. He shared his tips for grilling a great steak. Here are his tips:

TIP: Look for white flecks in steak. The more flecks, the more flavor.
TIP: Let steaks rest for 10 minutes before seasoning.
TIP: If not using Gaucho seasoning, rub with granulated garlic, onion, paprika and cayenne.
TIP: Make sure you have an even heat source
TIP: Grill steaks 3 to 4 minutes each side, turning a total of 4 times w/tongs or large meat fork.
TIP: For diamond grill marks grill meat at 45 degree angle. After 3 to 4 minutes, turn over so it's running in the same direction at the same angle. Then repeat in opposite direction.
TIP: Use meat thermometer for perfect temperature.
- 110 degrees = rare
- 120 degrees = medium rare
- 130 degrees = medium
- 140 degrees = medium well
- 150 degrees = well done
TIP: Let steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes after taking it off the grill.
