Experiencing airline travel as a senior citizen

08:12 PM PDT on Friday, August 31, 2007

By JIM DEVER / Evening Magazine

Learning to fly with aches and pains

By the year 2050, there will be more senior citizens than children for the first time in history.

Boeing is watching very closely because as people get older, they're generally less comfortable with flying.

To learn more about aging, a team of young engineers, and Evening Magazine's Jim Dever, made the ultimate sacrifice: they gave up their youth and learned what it's like to be elderly for a day on a roundtrip flight from Seattle to Spokane.

Click on the video to find out what they did and what they learned.

Special thanks to Boeing, Alaska Airlines and Horizon for giving us access to this special program.
