Mimi Gan
Reporter/Producer

Mimi Gan is an Emmy-award winning reporter for KING 5's Evening Magazine. She was also the co-host/co-creator of Watch This!, KING 5's fast-paced show for teens and children, and a science/technology reporter for the Discovery Channel's Beyond 2000 show.

Prior to joining KING 5 in November 1988, Gan was a producer for the PM Magazine National Office in San Francisco. She has also held positions as public affairs host at KNBR/NBC Radio, San Francisco and as a public information officer for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee.

Mimi has won national recognition for her work, including two 2001 Gracie Allen Awards from American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT) for her Vietnam special and story on daughters of prison moms. She has also garnered two Iris Awards from the National Association of Television Programming Executives (NATPE) and 8 Emmy awards, including best reporter and writer. In 1997, Watch This! was named the nation's best local youth program the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).

Mimi is very active in the community, serving as a trustee for Mothers Against Violence in America (MAVIA) and on the Advisory Council for Helping and Loving Orphans (HALO). She is also the emcee of the annual Girl Scouts Giving Breakfast and numerous community events. Mimi has also been president of the Asian American Journalists Association and a tutor for inner-city youth in the "I Have A Dream Foundation."

A native Californian, Mimi graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in social sciences. Mimi likes to travel, read, cook, follow politics and the Seattle Mariners in her spare time. She resides in Seattle with her husband and two daughters.
