John Stofflet

John Stofflet has been a reporter for KING 5's "Evening Magazine" since 1989. He's our "world traveler," having been on assignment in more than 30 countries and five continents.

Stofflet has reported and produced "Evening Magazine" travel specials on Ireland, New Zealand, Thailand, Fiji, France, Scotland, Amsterdam, and Germany, and recently completed an "around the world by private jet" assignment that took him to 12 countries in 24 days.

Stofflet also reported feature stories in and around Salt Lake City during the Olympics for the nightly broadcast of "Evening Magazine Live at the Olympics".

He's also flown through a hurricane, into a lightning storm, and once found himself in the middle of a tornado, while reporting action-adventure stories for the show.

Stofflet has won 11 Emmy awards, three awards for Best Feature Reporting in the 13-state "Best of the West" competition, three ARBY awards, and has been nominated twice for national Iris Awards. His stories have also aired internationally on "The Discovery Channel".

Prior to joining KING 5 in 1989, John was a news anchor, reporter, and manager at WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin. His feature stories won numerous Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and Milwaukee Press Club Awards, and also aired on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Before beginning his television career, he worked as a radio news anchor/reporter at CBS affiliate WIBA.

A 1983 honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Journalism, Stofflet was awarded the Milwaukee Journal Scholarship for Academic and Journalism excellence, and held the position of Editor-in-Chief of the "Badger Herald."

John Stofflet is married and has a son and daughter.
