Michael King
Reporter
03:40 PM PDT on Wednesday, June 21, 2006
Michael King joined Evening Magazine in July 2005. He was previously a sports reporter/anchor for KING 5 News since 2002.
In 1995 Michael helped launch NorthWest Cable News after spending two years at the CNN affiliate in Hong Kong where he covered everything from Sumo wrestling to cricket. Prior to his work for CNN, Michael worked as a sports anchor/reporter at KAPP-TV in Yakima, Wash. It was there he met his wife, NWCN morning anchor, Meg Coyle.
Michael's broadcast experience also includes covering the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks for WGN Radio. He also served as an announcer for the Baltimore Orioles' single-A club for two seasons.
Michael has been awarded four Emmys for "Best Sports Anchor,” two Associated Press awards for "Best Sportscast," an Edward R. Murrow award for “Sports Reporting” and a New York TV and Film Festival award for "Best Sportscast."
When Michael isn’t working, he enjoys playing most sports (except baseball – as a young lad, he says his forehead got in the way of a line drive and he's been baseball shy ever since). He tells us he's particularly fond of basketball (he's still working on goin' left), football and both water and snow skiing. Michael and Meg share their home with a dog (Doe) and a cat (Magoszy) and the newest addition to the family is their daughter Harper.
