On a busy corner in Ballard, a cat named Mr. Meow Meow welcomes customers who come in search of just one thing.

"We are the boot store. We're the boot girls," said Amanda Ilc, manager of Boot Girl.

Their styles range from cowboy to fashion boots, and they average about $38 a pair. In some cases, that's hundreds of dollars off retail. Once a week, they also have their famous $15 boot sales.

"My favorite is when (customers) see the price on the bottom and they're like, is that just for the left foot? Or is that for the left and the right?" Amanda laughed.

They're deeply discounted, because they're not new. Boot Girl's inventory is re-sale. Each pair is inspected and cleaned before they hit the shelves.

"We like to say they're pre-loved, pre-broken-in for you, so it gets you through that painful breaking-in process," Amanda said.

Inventory is always moving. They stock 40-100 new pairs every week, in both women's and men's styles.

"I moved here from New York and I've been living here for about three years," Amanda said. "I have never encountered a store like this where you come in and there are so many boots, at such a good price, too."

You'll find Boot Girl at the corner of NW 65th and 3rd Avenue NW in Ballard.
