Want to eat like an Aussie? Thanks to an ex-pat living in Burien, you can.
America may claim apple pie, but when it comes to meat filling, Australia is where it's at. And Australian Meat Pie Company is 100 percent authentic.
Owner Angus Wood was born and raised in Sydney and moved to the U.S. 20 years ago.
"I started making pies for myself, then I made some for friends and their friends and their friends. It just got bigger and bigger and that's how the pie shop came to be," said Wood.
In the beginning, it used to be just Wood. Now, a staff of employees help fill and bake hundreds of meat pies every day.
"I use recipes that I remember as a child growing up in Sydney. And we've just replicated them," said Wood.
Wood says for a true Aussie experience, there's one choice: traditional Australian pie. Customers also come in for the treats: Lamington, a piece of cake dipped in chocolate and then rolled in coconut.
It's no wonder so many customers walk out with their hands full.
