Gary Chittim joined KING 5 in December 2000. He moved up Interstate 5 from KING's Portland affiliate KGW where he was the Environmental Reporter.

He also worked in the Portland Bureau for NorthWest Cable News, and before that anchored the news for several years in Medford, Oregon.

Gary covered Northwest stories such as the Springfield school shooting, the grounding of the "New Carissa" in Coos Bay, the Makah Tribe whaling in Neah Bay, and three major earthquakes.
