Linda Byron

Linda Byron joined KING 5 News in February 1987 as a general assignment reporter. She is on the KING 5 investigative team and focuses on criminal justice in her reporting. She came to Seattle from KUTV (NBC) in Salt Lake City, UT. Her earlier experience includes anchor/reporter positions at stations in Boise, Kansas City, and Columbia, MO.
Byron's work in broadcasting earned her three Emmy Awards in 1990 for "AIDS: Hope Against Odds," "Disorder in the Court," and "Search for the Green River Killer," and a 1987 Emmy for "Everett Community College Fires." In 1991, Byron won an Emmy for Investigative Reporting. She has also worked on special reports such as "The Execution of Justice," covering the execution of Charles Campbell. Most recently, in 1996 Byron was awarded an Emmy for Investigative Reporting for the exposure of drug addicts taking taxi cabs at taxpayer expense. She currently serves on the advisory board of First Place, a school for homeless children in Seattle.
Byron received a bachelor of arts degree in English as an honors graduate of Seattle Pacific University and earned her master's degree in broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
When Byron is not reporting a story, she enjoys skiing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her twin girls.
