Aside from his anchoring duties, Bounds has done a number of special reports. In 1996, he reported and anchored KING 5's coverage from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the summer Olympic Games in Atlanta and the NBA finals in Chicago. Bounds also traveled to Bosnia following the implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord, to report on the involvement of Western Washingtonians in that part of the world.
Over the course of his extensive career in television news he has worked at stations in Fargo, ND, Orlando, FL, Minneapolis, MN, Shreveport, LA and finally Seattle, which he considers his last, best stop. He has involved himself in the community by making numerous appearances at schools and charity auctions. In the past he has served as a board member for Special Olympics Washington. He also serves as master of ceremonies for many of that group's most important functions and events and continues to make appearances for a number of different causes.
Bounds graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1974 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. He is married and his three children attend public schools in the Seattle area.
