Roberta Romero


Roberta Romero joined KING 5 News in March 1992 as a general assignment reporter. She came to Seattle from KOB-TV in Albuquerque, NM. Her earlier experience includes general assignment reporter positions at KOBF-TV in Albuquerque, NM., KTSM-TV in El Paso, TX., and KRWG-TV in Las Cruces, NM.

Romero has won several broadcast awards including the First Place-Spot News Award from the Albuquerque Press Club, and a First Place-Spot News Award from the Associated Press. As a college student she won a First Place-Student Entry Award from the New Mexico Associated Press and The New Mexico Broadcast Association awarded her with a Journalism Scholarship Award. She is a member of the Hispanic Journalists Association.

Romero earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 1986 from New Mexico State University.

When she is not reporting a story, Roberta is involved in many community causes including Seattle Public Schools and women and minority programs. She enjoys public speaking, exploring the Northwest, and spending time with her family and friends.
