Chris Ingalls
Chris Ingalls reports for the award-winning KING 5 Investigators. He is also KING 5’s federal criminal justice reporter.
Chris’s specialty is finding and breaking the big story. In 2002 he was the first in the nation to report that the FBI had cracked the DC sniper case and identified two former Tacoma residents as suspects. His series “Their Crime, Your Dime” profiled fraud in various state and federal welfare programs and the government’s ineffectiveness at stopping it. In 1995, Chris and photographer Brad Booker happened into a tragic story when a gunman opened fire just down the hallway at the King Co. Courthouse.
Chris has received numerous reporting awards, including the prestigious 2010 Sigma Delta Chi award for investigative reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Chris joined KING 5 in December of 1994. The former radio news reporter began his career in Dayton, Ohio, after graduating from Wright State University. He began reporting television news at Dayton's CBS affiliate WHIO-TV, as the station's crime and courts reporter.
Chris has roots (and a lot of family and friends) in Ohio, but he is now proud to call the Seattle-area his home. He is married with three wonderful children.
