I moved to Seattle from Tampa, Fla. during what people called one of the coldest snaps of weather in years. “Unseasonably cold” was the news term. During my first night shift, my face was so frozen I couldn’t say the words “live in Seattle.” The beauty of western Washington made up for it, though. Sunrises reflecting off snowcapped mountains still stop me in my tracks.

I’m what the news industry calls a “multimedia journalist” or “solo video journalist,” which means when I’m not working with KING 5’s award-winning photojournalists, I do it all myself. I shoot, write, edit, drive, research, and present the story at day’s end. It is always an adventure.

I haven’t followed the typical path of a broadcast news journalist. I studied history and French at Wake Forest University, worked as a segment producer for FOX & Friends morning show in New York City, left news and earned a Master of Divinity degree specializing in psychology and counseling at Boston University, then returned to news as a reporter.

When off the clock, I’m an aspiring yogini, runner, hiker, and biker. I have a 5-year old dog named Choca who’s passionate about her frisbee and happy to wear a stylish pink coat when temperatures allow. I also have a 21-year-old Morgan horse named “Sassy” who was born when I was in 6th grade.

I love stories, listening to them and telling them, especially ones that challenge us to think and encourage us to feel. If you have a story to tell, please shoot me an e-mail at amorrow@king5.com.
