Christie Johnson joined KING 5 in July 2010 as a reporter on KING 5 Morning News with the goal of highlighting all of the fabulous things happening around the Puget Sound.
Christie’s career has taken her around the globe. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, she began her career as a sportscaster in Canada, hosting a national magazine style show about the Canadian Football League. Her next stop was City TV in Edmonton as a sports anchor and reporter before joining The Score as a National Correspondent and Bureau Chief.
Following that, Christie moved to Sicily, Italy where her husband, a professional athlete, was playing. While there, she focused on eating fabulous cheese, incredible pasta, drinking amazing wine and sunning herself on the beach. The Dolce Vita wasn’t enough for this go-getter, however, so they traded gelato for the Alps and moved to Innsbruck, Austria. There she belted out The Sound of Music on the side of mountains, made daily visits to her neighbors, the flock of sheep that lived next door (and yes, they ALL wore bells) and hosted a TV show for the Oakland Raiders about what life is like for an American playing football in Europe.
Returning to North America, Christie achieved her career highlight to date when she covered the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver for the Olympic Broadcast Service (a division of the IOC). She was thrilled to remain in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, joining the Home Team where she continues to experience new adventures and highlight interesting people.
Christie earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and is a Broadcast Journalism graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
When Christie isn’t flying upside down in a plane or crawling around in a leopard den, she can be found exploring the Northwest with her husband and dog, Mocha Bean.
