The Jefferson Award began in 1972 as a way to recognize outstanding citizens who put the needs of others before their own. Each day this week, we will profile one of the five local winners, who will represent Washington state for the national Jefferson Award.

Rani Hong was sold into child slavery at just 7 years old. Now, this Olympia woman is on a quest to prevent stories like hers from happening again.

For more information on Rani’s foundation, visit www.troniefoundation.org.
