The Jefferson Award began back in 1972 as a way to recognize outstanding citizens who chose to put the needs of others before their own. Each day this week, we will profile one of the 5 local winners, and you will get to help pick the local winner who will represent Washington State for the national Jefferson Award.

Betty Tisdale has dedicated 50 years of her life to helping the loneliest children in the world. And she has no plans on slowing down.
