Here's a slice of what it's like to be a small business owner.
"That day I got 2 hours sleep. I went to bed at 2 and set my alarm for 4," said Alyssa Lewis, co-owner, with her husband, of Seattle Pie Company.”
You pour your everything into your business.
"We just kept baking and baking and baking and baking," says Patrick, Alyssa’s husband.
Whatever it takes to keep going.
"I probably worked, uh, 18 hours and, today, we'll work all through the night ... " said Alyssa.
"We've gotten used to pulling every third day, 26, 24-hour shifts," said Patrick.
Being your own boss can really take it out of you.
"I'm sorry, we're crazily overworked. We're slightly punch drunk right now," said Patrick.
But for this couple, these are good problems to have.
"Amazing problems. They're incredible problems. Amazing problems. I wouldn't call them problems," said Patrick.
That's because these two have figured out pie. They've come up with the equation for success in the short four months their business has been open.
The predicted 30 pies a day soon became 100 and, now, with the addition of selling pies wholesale to Metropolitan Market, they’re making 200 pies a day.
